The “Orman Library” in Antalya welcomes book enthusiasts from 7 to 70 with its magical architecture and an amazing atmosphere.
There are 7 fairy-tale and 1 hobbit themed houses in an open air library which is built on an 1500 meter squared area.
“Orman Library” which is an open air themed library built on 1500 meter squared area, In Dokumapark Kepez Municipality, attracts not only the kids from Antalya but also kids from all around the world. The library, which looks like it came straight out of a fairy tale book, has over 4000 books and attracts the attention of all book lovers. Hundreds of people from different age groups come to read at the library or study among the trees. The library has a peaceful environment with birds chirping in the background. There are 7 fairy-tale and 1 hobbit themed houses which resemble a replica of the 300 year-old button house that reflects the traditional Ottoman style architecture of Akseki, Antalya district.
The Director of Dokumapark, Emre Unlusoy, stated that there are other 3 libraries in the district and added “This is a place where you can spend your time as if you are inside the city but outside the city. It is like an oasis to me. An area where readers can meet with books and spend time with themselves or with their family. 1500 square meters was only used for books. The “Orman Library” consists of 4000 books. At the same time, the “Cemil Meriç Library” with 130 thousand books is very nearby. And so is “Burhanettin Onat kids library”.”
Intriguing Its Guests With Its Interesting Atmosphere
Ten year-old Ecem Uzun, who came to the Orman Library with her family said “It was my first time here and I loved it. I am reading and having the best time.” And Yasemin Uzun stated “It is a wonderful place. I am going to bring my daughter here so that she can read.”
Viktoria Terekhova and her daughter Vaireria (6) who moved to Antalya from Russia about a year ago, were among the ones who were curious about the library. Terekhova said “We took a walk and analyzed the books. My daughter loves books. The atmosphere is incredible. The place is like a fairy-tale.”
Hande Devranbay, who is studying on Foreign Languages stated “I love studying here instead of home. It is a quiet environment. I am reading with birds chirping in the back. A different atmosphere makes me motivated.” (İbrahim Laleli- DHA)
