Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATSO) President Davut Çetin stated that Serpme Börek, an essential part of Antalya gastronomy culture, has been registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.
ATSO President Davut Çetin stated that the efforts to register the geographical and cultural values of the city are continuing at full speed, and said, “A short time ago, Antalya Pumpkin Dessert was registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. Now we have registered the Serpme Börek. Thus, the number of geographical products registered by our Chamber, together with Antalya Tahini Piyazı, increased to three.” Çetin said, “As the Chamber, we have made our applications for the registration of the citrus and bergamot jams of Antalya. The process continues,” he said.
There should be more Antalya flavours on the menus.
Pointing out that Antalya has an important gastronomic richness, Davut Çetin urged the touristic facilities and city restaurants in the city to give more place to the tastes of Antalya in their menus.
Product Description and Distinguishing Features
Antalya Serpme Böreği is made by rolling out the dough, which is made into a meringue, by hand. The most important feature that distinguishes it from other pastries is that the pie is produced as paper-thin, without using a rolling pin. It takes a significant part of its flavour from the mastery of the local people.
